World renowned artists set to showcase their works at Gallery One

More artists announced for spring

Gallery One, the internationally renowned art and photography retailer, has announced the line up for the second phase of its spring collection. Works from world-renowned artists Rosha Nutt, quirky photographer Mr Kuu, Claridge & Lilius, Bollywood Posters, and an extended exhibition by Gallery One owner and photographer Gregg Sedgwick.

Rosha Nutt who trained at the prestigious art colleges, Central Saint Martins and Middlesex University in the UK, enjoyed a successful advertising career where she was able to nurture her love for Pop Art. With inspirations drawing from the bold, graphic works of Roy Litchtenstein, Andy Warhol, Bridget Riley and Damien Hirst, Rosha’s natural flair has been further influenced by her background in high-end beauty advertising. Her most recent collection, Popp Art, sees her unique artworks combine simple screen-printed objects such as unmistakable bottles of Chanel, butterflies and popsicles, with stippling and bold colour combinations for maximum impact and easy-on-the-eye aesthetics.

Mr Kuu is a pseudonym  for what some believe is the alter ego of a famous fashion photographer obsessed with capturing life’s quirky, intimate details, through his perfectly angled lens. When admiring his photography, you would instantly understand and wholly appreciate his concept of exploring the biggest themes of love and life vicariously through the minutia of existence. Cloaked in mystery and imagination, the question, ‘Who is Kuu’ is something that has kept critics and art collectors guessing since the debut of his exceptional and unusual collection, with only a very select few knowing the truth. This collection of fine art photography, Small Things In A Big World, focuses on tiny bright, plastic hand painted figures juxtaposed against seemingly mundane everyday objects, creating a surreal world, which aims to accentuate routine raw emotion.

Claridge & Lilius is the unique vision of Brit and Finnish duo Simon Claridge and Marc Lilius, two independent artists from divergent disciplines combining the very best of their talent and technical skills. The overall result of a painter and a photographer working in harmony is one of classic beauty with a remarkably timeless feel. A complex set of processes results in large-scale glossy photographic prints of still wet oil paints, which has been christened the ‘Brush and Lens’ project. This intriguing marriage between the talents of one of the UK’s most popular young artists, Claridge, and a much in-demand fashion, art and film photographer, Lilius, has transpired into creating collectable pieces of photographic art that are simply breathtaking.

The Art of Bollywood is a vibrant collection which sees the world of Bollywood films come to life in a series of beautifully large-format historical litho prints, capturing the excitement and glamour of Indian cinema art preserved in its debut period. The film posters are perfectly preserved examples of a genre which has become nothing short of an international phenomenon.

British photographer and designer Gregg Sedgwick will continue his exhibition of The Dubai Panoramics, for which he spent two weeks in early 2013 capturing the unusually stormy cityscape of Dubai. The distinct skylines punctuate powerfully through the dense fog, almost as a confirmation of Dubai’s promising future, providing the most recent snapshot of the magnitude and majesty of the ‘new Dubai’ as it emerges strongly as a global city.

Gallery One’s complete Spring 2013 collection can be viewed and purchased at Gallery One stores throughout the UAE. For further information and for a preview of some of the high quality artworks available, please visit the Gallery One website: www.g-1.com
