THE #DIESELTRIBUTE LEATHER COLLECTION
After the success of #DIESELTRIBUTE Denim capsule launched worldwide in November 2013, Nicola Formichetti continues revisiting the heritage of Diesel with #DIESELTRIBUTE Leather collection, launching worldwide in February  2014.
Leather from Diesel’s archives is brought to the atelier under Nicola’s vision of the future. With attention to detail at the forefront, the collection highlights the rebellious spirit of leather and serves as statement against the fast fashion commoditization of the instantly recognizable material. For instance, manual studs and detailed hand-stitched patch application restricts #DIESELTRIBUTE production to only three pieces completed per day, and make this range extremely special and irresistible to the fashion lover.
Tradition meets future in leather with #DIESELTRIBUTE, translated in a capsule of exceptional garments, like the iconic biker jacket style has been re-imagined on a jogg jeans fabric base with the addition of rivets and metal rings, with the hand applied leather patch, usually found at the back of jeans. This handcraft is also applied to a pair of jeans covered by no less than 580 of the patches taken from the historical database of Diesel's five pockets, a patchwork also found on the dress where about a hundred patches are applied by hand on a soft leather base, creating the definitive sexy rock attitude. Overall the capsule creates strong ties to the world of Diesel’s iconography and serves as a visual ownership of the original, fearless Diesel spirit.
Across the accessories range, soft leather belts and rivets are applied on caps, metallic hardware rock elements are found on key / badge holder and belts, and the iconic leather patches are applied on unisex sneakers and tote bags, completing the alternative strong visual impact of the collection.
In the collection, there are 11 pieces of apparel, 5 accessories and 4 intimate options. Items range from jackets to polos, from dresses to tops, from vests to jeans. Patchwork jacket and jeans - plus the perfect leather jacket for him and the sexy rock leather dress for her -  combine the craftsmanship and the creativity of this capsule, designed by Nicola Formichetti.
The #DIESELTRIBUTE Leather collection will be made available in selected Diesel stores only including Mall of the Emirates and Dubai Mall, UAE.
#DIESELTRIBUTE - THE CAMPAIGN
In creating imagery to communicate the launch and story behind his first offering, Nicola elevated the campaign to the same magnitude as the project itself. In collaboration with renowned British photographer Nick Knight and the team of new media creative at SHOWStudio, Nicola conceived a campaign both revolutionary and conceptual in spirit.  Shot entirely on iPhone©, the campaign focuses on the glitching capabilities and filters of today’s best in class photo and video apps, and translates the languages of social media into a new visual concept which has never been used before. Including portrait and group shots of this new Diesel tribe, the detailed look at the #DIESELTRIBUTE collection becomes the most visionary take into Diesel DNA.
The campaign will be distributed across specific social sharing platforms including Tumblr, Facebook and Instagram, as well as formats that celebrate this rebellious spirit. The digital content captured in this campaign will also be made available at immersive digital installations in selected Diesel stores.
