Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority Launches
New Tourism & Hospitality Training Scheme

The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (Ras Al Khaimah TDA) has launched its new 2013 tourism and hospitality training scheme to support the Ras Al Khaimah tourism sectors. The training programme offers five major courses to the employees of tourism entities in the emirate and are aimed at improving and upgrading the quality of service within hotels as well as tour operators and destination management companies.
Speaking about the new training scheme, Victor Louis, Chief Operating Officer, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism and Development Authority said: “Through this new tourism training scheme we are providing exclusive training solutions for the tourism sector to ensure that Ras Al Khaimah tourism industry continues its premium development with world-class people involved at all levels.”
The new 2013 training programme will offer various courses including; Tour Guiding, Food & Beverage Operations, Reception and Concierge, and Life Guard Training as well as Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP), which took place on January 28 and 29, 2013 and was attended by 25 participants from different tourism entities of Ras Al Khaimah.
The candidates of all the courses will be required to achieve assessment scores of 80% and higher to successfully complete the courses and later will then receive an official certificate of completion.  The courses will take place throughout the year in 2013, with the length of each course  dependent on the course selected, from a four-day Food & Beverage training course which covers customer relations as well as how to manage food and beverage operations to increase profitability, to the Life Guard Training course which is a 10-day programme designed for personnel who are responsible for the day to day supervision of the swimming pool and beach facilities in Ras Al Khaimah.
All training courses are certified by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, with  the Life Guard course certified by both Ras Al Khaimah TDA and a recognized training institution in the United Kingdom.
In addition to offering training within the hotel industry, Ras Al Khaimah will continue the 9-day tour guide course, which was launched last year for local Emirati and Ras Al Khaimah residents giving them the opportunity to become certified travel and tourism guides of Ras Al Khaimah by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority.
