Global Village the hub for Global Arts.... Innovative Arts of Mesopotamia and Shadow sculpting

Global Village, the region’s leading Cultural, Shopping and Entertainment family outdoor destination, is hosting a large number of artists from around the world. This season, there are large numbers of artists showcasing their ‘objet d’art’ and art in the making. They demonstrate their trends across Global Village to visitors that can watch and perhaps walk away with their portraits or artifacts.

Shadow Artist
The Jordanian artist Bassam Al – Selawi is showcasing a unique kind of art at the Jordanian Pavilion in Global Village. When a spotlight is projected on his rock like designs and sculptures, the shadow of different forms appears. Such forms are technically sculpted reflections of various images and calligraphy.
“The discovery was a mere coincidence. Light was projected once on my work as I was molding it and when I raised my head my sight fell on the shadow. I knew then the kind of art I would like to further explore”, said Bassam. He added, “I searched and browsed the net trying to learn about this art. I might be the only Arab artist in the world developing this art using Arabic calligraphy and special images”.
Mesopotamian Artist
Ayad Al Ameed is showcasing his art collection in this, what he refers to as multi – cultural theme park. Having graduated from Baghdad College of Fine Arts, Ayad has sailed long back to set up his own trend including sculpturing, ceramic works, painting and developing various kinds of art.
“Time is fearful affront my passion for art. I love giving people as it means connecting with them. My objective in life is to depict pieces which bring joy to people’s hearts after a long tiring day at work”.
This year’s theme is Indian colors, whether the Red Indians of the Americas or the sub Indian continent, it is about warm orange and red, calligraphy on copper and metal colors with hidden colorful streaks and shades.
Ayad is inspired by the beauty of Sumer and the eyes of the Babylonians, he loves to include the ancient vases of Babylon and turquoise color themes. He admires a civilization that was exemplary in the discipline of its soldiers, which made it one of the strongest civilizations in the history of mankind.
Amid the bustling park, Ayad exhibits his work at the Iraqi Pavilion. Visitors inspire and prompt him to give. He listens carefully to their appreciative criticism, and assures that what distinguishes artists is connecting with the world and learning from constructive criticism, whereby the artist can better change and innovate.
Once the journey of exploring arts at Global Village begins, it becomes seamlessly endless as there are many innovative artists who express their trends and school of arts to visitors. The management of the park has ensured to support the arts sector by hosting a large number of artists this season, so visitors can interact and watch live demonstrations of artists at work interpreting their priceless artifacts and portraits in various forms. People who love to bring joy to others.
