Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority Launches
New Tourism & Hospitality Training Scheme
The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (Ras Al Khaimah TDA) has
launched its new 2013 tourism and hospitality training scheme to support the
Ras Al Khaimah tourism sectors. The training programme offers five major
courses to the employees of tourism entities in the emirate and are aimed at
improving and upgrading the quality of service within hotels as well as tour
operators and destination management companies.
Speaking
about the new training scheme, Victor Louis, Chief Operating Officer, Ras Al
Khaimah Tourism and Development Authority said: “Through this new tourism
training scheme we are providing exclusive training solutions for the tourism
sector to ensure that Ras Al Khaimah tourism industry continues its premium
development with world-class people involved at all levels.”
The
new 2013 training programme will offer various courses including; Tour Guiding, Food & Beverage Operations,
Reception and Concierge,
and Life Guard Training
as well as Certified Guest
Service Professional (CGSP), which took place on January 28 and 29,
2013 and was attended by 25 participants from different tourism entities of Ras
Al Khaimah.
The
candidates of all the courses will be required to achieve assessment scores of
80% and higher to successfully complete the courses and later will then receive
an official certificate of completion. The courses will take place
throughout the year in 2013, with the length of each course dependent on
the course selected, from a four-day Food & Beverage training course which
covers customer relations as well as how to manage food and beverage operations
to increase profitability, to the Life Guard Training course which is a 10-day
programme designed for personnel who are responsible for the day to day
supervision of the swimming pool and beach facilities in Ras Al Khaimah.
All
training courses are certified by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development
Authority, with the Life Guard course certified by both Ras Al Khaimah
TDA and a recognized training institution in the United Kingdom.
In
addition to offering training within the hotel industry, Ras Al Khaimah will
continue the 9-day tour
guide course, which was launched last year for local Emirati and
Ras Al Khaimah residents giving them the opportunity to become certified travel
and tourism guides of Ras Al Khaimah by the Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development
Authority.
