Horse racing fans in Dubai can sit
alongside some of the sport’s biggest names to watch all the action from The
Cheltenham Festival – one of the most exciting race meets of the year – being
held this week.
Qube Sports Bar at Meydan has become a
popular destination for famous racing trainers and jockeys based in the city
for the Dubai World Cup Carnival.
Many of them will be at the venue when The
Cheltenham Festival is shown live on the giant screens from Tuesday March 12
until Friday March 15 with racing staring at 5.30pm each day.
Last week Qube welcomed legendary trainer
Michael W Dickinson who happily chatted with other customers and at one point
made a call to fellow racing superfan, Manchester United manager Sir Alex
Ferguson.
“There have been all sorts of individuals
from the world of racing in Qube whenever a big meeting is on,” said Toby
Greenwood, who is a season pass holder at Meydan.
“It’s great to chat with them and find out
what is happening in racing and what they think about certain horses.
“The Cheltenham Festival has a history of
records being set and with the massive Gold Cup race at the end it is going to
be a fantastic four days.
“There is a real community feel among fans,
trainers and jockeys at Meydan and it’s great we all have somewhere to go for
events like Cheltenham and also before and after the race meets at Meydan.”
Qube will also be showing all the racing
from Super Saturday – this weekend’s card at Meydan and the last to be held before
the Dubai World Cup at the end of the month.
