'Contrast' - A Group Photography Exhibition Puts the Focus on the Ever-changing Face of the UAE @TheAjmanPalace

'Contrast' - A Group Photography Exhibition Puts the Focus on
the Ever-changing Face of the UAE at The Ajman Palace

A new generation of photographers will come together to showcase the 'Seen and Unseen' attractions of the UAE with a focus on Ajman at The Ajman Palace from March 26 to April 16. The exhibition is organized under the Kind Patronage of H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Faisal Al Qassimi. Aptly titled 'Contrast', it captures the heart of the ever-changing face of the emirates with a random mix of images ranging from street photography to landscapes, wilderness, portraits and architectural marvels.

Laurent A. Voivenel, CEO, HMH - Hospitality Management Holdings that manages The Ajman Palace, said: "We are truly excited to host this fascinating exhibition. The idea was to offer a platform to local photographers who turned their cameras on the UAE to bring out many striking facets of the country - some that we have already known and others quite rare. These are essentially explorers with cameras who roved the emirates in search of the unusual, capturing the country's tempo, its scenic beauty, its spectacular architecture, its myriad everyday dramas, life... There are plenty of surprises and we hope visitors to the show would find the shots interesting".

There are more than 60 photographs on display at The Ajman Palace produced by 13 photographers, each vying for your attention, but you may find your mind constantly wandering - and wondering at the sheer range of it all. Some of the snaps are extremely intense and intellectually stimulating while others are just candid impressions.

Emirati photographer Maitha bint Khalid uses photography to convey a message to the world. She focuses in her photographs on symbols that reflect the authenticity and heritage of the UAE in all its forms and the local environment. According to her: “Photography is a universal language that needs no translation and it’s the best way to express her thoughts”.

So how much of a role does technology play in photography today? Kevin J. Larkin, an American freelance photographer based in Dubai, said, "Technology is a necessary, but not a sufficient, condition for good photographs. Today, photography has been revolutionized by digital technology. However, although it has  become much easier to take photographs that are technically flawless (in terms of exposure and focus), it is just as difficult to capture aesthetically satisfying images as it was in the age of film and chemicals".

Talking about her subjects, Katerina Smoldyreva, a Russian artist who lives and works in Dubai, said, "When I am photographing, I see life. I don't have pictures in my head... I don't worry about how the picture is going to look. I let that take care of itself... It is not about making a nice picture. That anyone can do. It is just capturing life as it happens".

Contrast: 'Seen & Unseen' at The Ajman Palace: March 26 to April 16, 2014

KFC Arabia Celebrates 2.5 Million Facebook Devotees and Rewards its ‘SuperFans’ @kfcarabia

The power and effectiveness of social media as a marketing tool has been revealed this week by KFC Arabia, with the brand announcing that it is celebrating 2.5 million fans in 5 years on Facebook. From an initial 11,000 devoted fans recorded when it first started using the platform in 2009, the level of interactivity has risen exponentially, with the most recent count revealing 2.5 million fans on the KFC Arabia Facebook page.
From its initial tentative engagement with the medium, KFC Arabia’s Facebook page has grown into becoming the main forum for the brand to communicate with its custo
mers, enabling a level of interactivity that was previously unthinkable. It has been instrumental as a tool for creating the KFC ‘SuperFan’ experience - a concept that involves the brand tying in its sponsorships of the popular reality TV offerings ‘Arab Idol’, ‘Arabs Got Talent’ and ‘The Voice’ with competitions that enable its most ardent fans to attend the live shows and be a part of the backstage experience alongside the judges and competitors. The brand has recently added a ‘SuperFan’ experience in its sponsorship of WWE, which will see customers given the opportunity to attend the WWE WrestleMania event that takes place in the USA this April.
KFC Arabia enjoys a strong passionate fan base on Facebook, from where was born the concept of ‘SupeFans’; these are KFC Arabia’s most active users on the page and who constantly support the brand. Whilst they are already acknowledged  on a weekly basis, KFC Arabia will now reward five ‘SuperFans’ with valuable prizes as a reward for their continuous contribution to the 2.5 million Facebook fan community.

In addition to enabling the creation of ‘SuperFans’, KFC Arabia has been proactive in using its Facebook page to gain valuable insight into its customers’ thoughts and sentiments about the brand. This has been made possible through the ‘Talk-to-Us tab,’ an application that allows fans to post comments, voice concerns and even lobby for branch openings and enquire about job opportunities. The facility has proved vital in nurturing the relationship between KFC fans and its management, with the latter keen to implement requests as quickly as possible.
One example of KFC Arabia responding directly to customer feedback was the introduction of its campaign featuring Cristiano Ronaldo, which resulted in a significant increase in brand awareness for KFC and a subsequent sales increase of its products in the region by 15 percent. Having developed a savviness of the medium, the brand cleverly played on the rivalry between fans of Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to generate traffic around its Facebook page, as the company had previously endorsed Messi in an earlier campaign. The Ronaldo campaign saw social media conversations increase by 137 percent, while its overall brand sentiment was recorded as climbing by 20 percent.

It is clear that KFC Arabia’s use of Facebook has been intuitive and organic, with the organisation’s first foray into the medium resulting in a structured plan for its evolution. It branded 2012 its ‘year of acquisition,’ when it set out to massively expand its fan base and followed it up with its 2013 ‘year of engagement,’ which saw it ramp up its level of interaction with fans. Moving forwards, 2014 has been established as KFC’s ‘year for advocacy.’ Judging by its level of activity so far, we can expect a great deal more initiatives and innovations from KFC Arabia’s Facebook page that will keep the conversations going.

At the heart of the watch is the OMEGA Co-Axial caliber 8508, one of the most dramatic technological innovations in recent memory. It is resistant to magnetic fields greater than 1.5 tesla (15,000 gauss), far exceeding the levels of magnetic resistance achieved by any previous watch movement and solving a problem that has challenged watchmakers for many decades.
The Seamaster Aqua Terra > 15,000 gauss is a 41.50 mm stainless steel Co-Axial chronometer presented on either a matching bracelet or a brown leather strap. It has a slightly yellowed lacquered black dial, sun-brushed from the centre and decorated with the distinctive vertical lines that define OMEGA’s popular Aqua Terra collection. The yellow transferred legend, “> 15’000 GAUSS” identifies the watch as a very special timepiece.

@LPGSpa_Dubai Look Years Younger, Faster with LPG’s New Endermolift Facial Treatments

Look Years Younger, Faster with LPG’s New Endermolift Facial Treatments
A proven and effective beauty ritual for a healthy glow and a natural youthful complexion

It’s never too late to reverse the effects of aging. LPG, the world leader in cellular stimulation, shows men and women the secret to looking young and beautiful with glowing skin.

With today’s latest array of tools and techniques, LPG has developed its 100% natural anti-aging technique which can wake up sleeping cells deep within the skin, to produce an enhanced natural supply of collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid by 80%. This technique firms, tightens, and re-sculpts the face, neck and décolleté erasing the signs of aging.

Beat back the signs of time with The New Endermolift treatment, a natural and non-invasive beauty treatment that will have you looking younger—radically reversing signs of aging. In a matter of 6 sessions, the skin specialist can perform relaxing, comfortable treatments that leave you looking brighter, tauter, and years younger.

How does the New Endermolift work?
LPG uses its patented technology in the CELLU M6 machine which has three customised ‘lifts’ to deliver micro-beats to the skin’s surface to stimulate youth cells in-depth, restarting their natural production. First, to clarify your complexion, LPG uses the ‘slow lifts’ for mechanical stimulation which improves vascularization and drains toxins in order to result in a smoother complexion. Second, to replenish wrinkles, LPG uses the ‘speed lifts’ mechanical stimulation to reactivate cellular metabolism. As a result, fibroblasts once again secrete collagen and elastin, the two substances responsible for the skin’s firmness and elasticity. By reorganizing collagen fibers, the skin tissue’s architecture appears to be better structured and more uniform. And finally to firm facial contours, LPG uses the ‘high speed lifts’ stimulation to naturally reactivate the production of collagen and elastin, thus rebuilding the skin's supporting structure.

What to expect in an LPG New Endermolift program?
The New Endermolift offers immediate results, including a healthy glow and a natural, soothing lifting effect. Each session's results add up to fill in wrinkles, redefine contours, and clarify the complexion.

The first step is assessment . This first step helps your skin specialist to know your beauty goals; realize an evaluation and choose the best treatment for your individual needs. The second step is the treatment phase. After having selected your Endermolift Kit (a choice between sensitive or regular), you will comfortably settle on the treatment table wherein you are then treated carefully, which will take approximately 35 minutes of relaxation and well being. The third step is monitoring results. During your New Endermolift program, other assessments will enable to monitor your results according to the goals that have been set in the beginning.
At the end of your program, you will see and feel the difference and will be surprised with friends and loved ones paying you compliments on how young and fresh you look!
