The Jordanian Pavilion at Global Village, the region’s leading Cultural, Shopping and Entertainment family outdoor destination, was officially opened on Thursday, 13th of December, under the auspices of His Excellency the Jordanian Consul General in Dubai, Saqr Abu Shattal Al Nuaimi; the organizers of the Jordanian Pavilion: Ahmed Al Abboud, Chairman of Golden Civilization and Mohammed Al Abboud; Executive Director of Golden Civilization; and the famous singer, Omar Abdellat, in the presence of a large number of VIPs and guests.
After the opening ceremony and ribbon cutting, the guests toured the pavilion and exchanged talks with exhibitors. The pavilion has been completely occupied, goods and Jordanian handcrafts are lined-up to represent a country known for its Beduine tribes and Arabian culture.
From the typical traditional Jordanian Jilbabs that mark the costume of Jordanian women with hand or machine embroidery in various colors and designs to the specially designed matching hats and scarves.
Meanwhile, fresh and canned food vendors have showcased a large number of Jordanian olives, thyme, and special ingredients for the homemade ‘Mansaf’ are lined-up so visitors can have a taste and identify variants.
No one can help but notice the brew of Jordanian coffee grinded with cardamom. Differences in coffee grinding and the mix highlight the various tastes of the Levant region.
The most remarkable is art expressed on painted glass by the well known Jordanian artist, Hakam Al Tahir. An architect, a university professor but foremost a talented artist and a calligrapher on glass. Transparent with shades of deep colors and designs of Islamic Calligraphy with canvass beneath glass, the glass paintings are worth appreciating. His work also includes calligraphy with gold and platin leaves on ceramics.
Art at the Jordanian Pavilion continues to include many ceramic works, handcrafted items as well as Henna. At one of the stands, Mona Obeid, the hand henna designer receives people happily to demo the latest ‘henna trends’. This year’s fashion is black and red henna, and for an evening out the fillings of glitter in the same color of the evening dress is popularly in demand. The henna is mixed with natural colors derived from hibiscus, tea and pomegranates.
Displaying a range of handcrafts, Jordan River Foundation, headed by HRH, Queen Rania Al Abdullah, is a non-profit establishment, and its core motto is to enable women to handle homegrown, artisan projects. The line-up of authentic handmade goods include a range of naturally hand weaved carpets, bed sheets, and table cloths, in addition to many other artisan pieces.
Dead sea products are known worldwide thanks its natural wonders.  The range of products is captivating, from scrubs, mud masks to night and day creams, and much more, the Jordanian expertise in this field is evident.
After the official opening, the Jordanian Pavilion sets a model of true bred Jordanian goods and crafts exhibiting at Global Village and truly reflecting the country’s depth and traditions. The Jordanian folk trope, playing at various intervals, performs the Jordanian Dabka on the beats of country’s traditional music, which is a sign of the people’s unity and harmony.
