THE US OPEN COMES TO DUBAI @MeydanEvents

The excitement of the US Open is coming to the UAE on June 16th thanks to Meydan golf course.

The second of golf's four major championships takes place from June 10th -16th and The Track is organising a special tournament that will bring all the drama of the from Ardmore, Pennsylvania  to Meydan, Dubai.
Every player in Dubai will be randomly 'paired' with a professional in the Open. The scores from the individual stableford competition at The Track will be added to the pro's third round results after they have been converted to stableford points.
Players wearing red, white and blue will get two points head start and the three 'teams' with the highest scores will win prizes donated by Troon, Meydan and TaylorMade. Prizes will also be awarded for the longest drive and nearest the pin.
The shotgun start begins at 7pm after which, thanks to the eight hour time difference between the UAE and the US, players will be able to catch the gripping climax of the Open on the huge HD screens at Meydan's clubhouse sports bar, Qube.
"This is a really great way to combine one of the biggest golf events of the year with playing the game itself," said Jonathan Lumb, a regular at The Track. "Tying the scores to each other gives it that added bit of drama, and it means that even if you have a pretty terrible round, if you're paired with one of the leaders you can still win.
"I'm not the best golfer to be honest, so I'm hoping to be paired with Tiger Woods who  is the favourite, but I'd be happy with anyone of McIlroy, Westwood or Mickelson."
Registration for the event is open now and strictly limited. Entries cost AED150 per person.
