Menswear Fall/Winter 2013-2014
Diesel’s
FW13 menswear collection takes inspiration from camouflage and modifies it
creating a collection filled with a rock and underground attitude. The “Urban camouflage” is
born; a process of mutation related to fabrics and graphic treatments. A
camouflage that is not made to blend in and hide in the environment, but rather
to make things more visible and more attractive emerging from the usual urban
context. This is the so-called “Alluring
Disguise”.
New
structured field, puff jackets and treated coloured tees become live canvases
for photos and stencils depicting the life of a suburban Los Angeles surrounded
by natural elements, such as palm trees beside power lines and a colourful
Volcano explosion graphics. Treatments such as corrosion and dévoré suggest a
rock attitude and restates the concept of "Lost in Mutation".
The
Winter collection is dressy and refined, but always faithful to Diesel rock
soul. Smartness translates into rich black, multiple shades of grey and petrol
blue. The core concept could be defined as “lost in mutation”: mixture and
evolution of fabrics, graphics and patterns including new ways of employing
velvet. The classic material is unexpectedly used on casual garments as biker
jackets with military details, where the rock feel is projecting into a more
dressy and refined mood. It’s a velvet
revolution!
Tees
and shirts are playing an incredible role in this collection: from photo-print
tees and smart shirts to over treated or bleached denim shirts to be worn with
fit pants or smart blazers. Black and greys are the institutional colours of
the collection and are highlighted by bold winter colours such petrol blue,
touches of purple and violet and brick red on knits and pants.
In
the 5 pocket section the leading concept is “Mutation”. It is all about denim changing
its skin, using multiple layering technologies to colour and de-colour the
material. Whether it’s laser print, faded colour treatment, new coating
technique or new generation of fabrics, the expertise of Diesel has clearly
been applied to this new evolution of denim. Indigo is merged with this
season’s grey and black while denim fans will welcome a brand new style of
jean, Krayver,
with an unusual carrot fit.
In
the spotlight the bags family “State
of Mind”. Based on over 30 years of expertise in treatments,
the collection represents the best expression of the Diesel knowhow. A cross-body
bag and a backpack are realized in canvas and leather through precious
processes made on hand sprayed colours followed by multiple washing treatments.
What is essential in the shoe collection? Leather for sneakers, of course!
Enriched in FW13 by studs, laser treatments and embroidery stitching. The more
formal proposal introduces clean shapes, waxy treated suede and shiny effects.
Core
theme of the Diesel FW13 collection is the juxtaposition of dressy and informal
never living aside the rock soul!
