RIZ KHAN HOSTS UAS DUBAI STUDENT PANEL ON GLOBAL ISSUES

Universal American School presents a panel discussion, moderated by award-winning international journalist
Grade 10 students at ESOL’s Universal American School (UAS), yesterday, presented their views on current issues faced by the coming generation. Hosted by Riz Khan, acclaimed journalist, anchor and television presenter, panelists debated crucial themes such as the environment, global warming, wealth inequality and children’s rights, highlighting their significance and outlining how young people today can take action.
“It’s reassuring to know that the younger generation is aware of global issues such as global warming, wealth disparity and children’s rights,” commented Mr. Khan after the presentation. “Being aware of the power of globalized communication such as the Internet and its access to social media provides remarkable means for them to have their own voice among their peers.”
Dr. Daryle Russell, UAS Interim Director added, “What impresses me is that our students do think about the important global issues that they are going to be confronted with in their adulthood. The fact that they can articulate their thoughts and discuss them with their peers is encouraging, indeed, since it will take communication, cooperation, collaboration and patient discussion to resolve these issues going forward.”
