Majid Al Futtaim Ventures partners with the Dubai Health Authority to donate much needed blood to those in need

More than 100 passionate individuals volunteered to give blood in a company-wide blood donation drive organised by Majid Al Futtaim Ventures, the growth engine responsible for developing some of the region’s most innovative concepts and brands. An initiative in partnership with the Dubai Health Authority and sponsored by Mr. Ahmed Ismail, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Ventures, the blood donation drive will be an on-going campaign to avoid shortages of much needed blood supplies in the UAE. This also underscores the business’ commitment to supporting meaningful causes, and engaging its staff to contribute to society by embodying its core values of integrity and respect.

“Through Majid Al Futtaim Ventures’ partnership with the Dubai Health Authority, our aim is to spread awareness of the importance of donating blood and hopefully make a positive impact on the lives of those in need,” said Ahmed Galal Ismail, Chief Executive Officer of Majid Al Futtaim Ventures. “This reinforces one of our fundamental principles to ‘Care Always’, be it through hosting community-benefitting initiatives or investing in our own resources. The positive turnout is a reflection of our company’s dedication and interest in such important causes, and we look forward to supporting the Dubai Health Authority and their initiatives for the long term.”

“In less than an hour’s time, a healthy individual donates one unit of blood that can be separated into four individual components that has the potential to help save multiple lives,” said Nadia Kalantar, Head of Marketing & Blood Donor Recruitment Unit – Dubai Blood Donation Centre Pathology & Genetics Department. “Some people donate money, some donate time and others donate knowledge but donating blood is by far the most noble and the most important to life. The Dubai Blood Donation Centre is grateful to Majid Al Futtaim Ventures for their contribution and proactive support in spreading the message across Dubai and the UAE about the importance of blood donation – it is through this kind of commitment that we are able to meet the great demand for blood.”

Hosted in early October, the blood donation campaign took place at Majid Al Futtaim Group’s headquarters located in Deira, with volunteers coming across the wider Group including Majid Al Futtaim Properties, which currently operates 11 shopping malls across the region, Majid Al Futtaim Retail, which operates Carrefour and Majid Al Futtaim Ventures, which has introduced and developed new brands and concepts into the region such as Ski Dubai, the Najm credit card and Juicy Couture.
