Enjoy a happy pregnancy through healthful eating with Balancedmom
  • Newly-published study conducted in the US reveals that “bad eating habits could start in the womb”
  • Right Bite’s Balancedmom program ensures adequate nutrition for the mother and the baby, healthy reasonable weight gain

For mothers and moms-to-be, it is no big secret that what you eat during pregnancy determines how well your baby grows in your womb. Yet, as Right Bite discovers, there is more to a healthy pregnancy than just ensuring nutrition for the unborn child. A woman’s prenatal diet has a life-long effect on the child’s food preferences – exposure to junk food in the womb may be more likely to give birth to a child with a sweet tooth, but smart food choices during pregnancy is moulding your unborn child to prefer a healthy diet through adult life!

Right Bite, known to be experts in food and nutrition, revealed that there is a newly-published study conducted in the United States, which finds that “bad eating habits could start in the womb”. Philadelphia-based Monell Chemical Senses Center have found that babies born to mothers who eat a diverse and varied diet while pregnant and breast-feeding are more open to a wide range of flavors. Researchers believe that a mother’s prenatal dietary behaviour has a lasting effect on the development of their baby’s lifelong food choices, so much so that exposure to junk food in the womb may lead to children needing to eat more of it in order to “feel good”.

Nathalie Haddad, Founder and Managing Director, The Right Bite Nutrition and Catering Services L.L.C., said that ensuring a healthy 40-week pregnancy does not entail much of an effort, and underscored that pregnant women should get the right nutrition, not only for her and the baby’s health but also to reduce the onset of certain pregnancy-related complications.  Nathalie also explained that it is crucial for women not to fall prey to misconception that you can eat as much as you want during pregnancy, using ‘eating for two’ as an excuse.   “Weight gain is a very important factor during pregnancy, but this has to be a reasonable weight gain.  There is no one-size-fits-all approach to pregnancy weight gain as it depends on various factors including one’s pre-pregnancy weight and body mass index (BMI).  In general, for women with a normal pre-pregnancy BMI, an acceptable total weight gain would be 11.4 to 16 kilograms.” Nathalie said.

As the quality and quantity of food consumed whilst pregnant are very important, the team from Right Bite saw the need to provide expert nutritional service to mothers and moms-to-be, and amongst Right Bite’s varied programs is one that specifically addresses this need – Balancedmom. Right Bite’s Balancedmom is a custom diet plan that ensures pregnant women of a healthy pregnancy, carefully taking into consideration the nutritional requirements of both the mother and the unborn child.

“When you’re pregnant, you deal with a lot of cravings, anxiety and mood changes, and it’s unavoidable that your taste for food becomes affected. The great thing about enrolling in the Balancedmom program is that we at Right Bite help mothers ensure that they are still able to provide proper nourishment for the baby while having to deal with all these. We offer a tailor-made diet plan that helps you eat adequately, control unreasonable weight gain and provides optimal nourishment to your baby,” Nathalie said.

Not limited to custom prenatal diet, the Balancedmom program is also recommended post birth as a good state of health for the mother is equally important when breastfeeding. By eating a healthy balanced diet when nursing, mothers are able to replenish all the nutrients stored in her body while giving the baby all the nutrition he needs through their healthy milk.
Balancedmom also helps women recover faster and get back into shape after the birth of the baby.
