Inspired by the Dubai Sports Council's vision of creating a distinguished sporting community in Dubai, the Dubai Schools Football Cup (DSF) kicks off 11th January 2014, announced the event company Inspiratus. The DSFC is open to all schools across Dubai for students aged 10-15 years.

With over 1,800 student registrations in progress from 50 schools, the tournament promises to be a groundbreaking event. Supported by Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Educational Zone and Princess Haya Initiative for the Development of Health, Physical Education, and School Sports, the Cup will be played at the world-class facilities of Dubai Sports City.

Unlike any other tournament of its kind in Dubai today, the DSFC is at no cost and open to all schools across the curriculum spectrum (private, public and international).

The cost of the tournament is entirely covered by corporate sponsorships like Chevrolet, allowing schools to focus on what really matters – training their players.

“The DSFC’s goal, using football as its platform, is to reflect Dubai’s unique ability of bringing together people from different countries and cultures who speak different languages, but who all play, celebrate and commiserate together. Football does exactly this and it inspires a passion to excel while encouraging great sportsmanship, fellowship, and comradery. All these are qualities that will serve our children well as they grow into the leaders of tomorrow,” said Dr. Ahmed Al Sharif, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council.

The Cup will run under the expert guidance of Football Legend and former Real Madrid star, Michel Salgado, Director, Dubai Sports City Football Academy, along with a highly qualified team of UEFA certified coaches.

“It’s great to be a part of the Dubai Schools Football Cup. We at Dubai Sports City are always on the lookout for young, coachable talent. This will be a great opportunity to see children from all over Dubai schools show us their football skills. It’s tournaments like Dubai Schools Football Cup that will enhance the level of football among children in Dubai,” said Salgado.

Furthermore, in line with the Council’s vision to support and popularize women sports and allow girls to practice sports activities, the DSFC runs a concurrent girls tournament on gender-separated pitches.

“Engaging boys and girls in an active healthy lifestyle adds so much to a person’s life and it’s vital to get them started young to establish good habits. What they learn on a football pitch are lessons of cooperation, compassion, sharing, and leadership that they can take back to their classrooms and in all aspects of their life,” added Salgado.

Dubai Schools Football Cup Champions will win a coveted all expense paid trip to the United Kingdom in March of next year to meet some of football’s living legends.

All matches will take place at Dubai Sports City with its professionally equipped facilities, 12 FIFA certified pitches, food and beverage stalls, and indoor viewing rooms. The advantage of playing all games in one location is that schools need not provide any facilities.
