Qatar Media Services (q.media), owners and operators of
Gulf Film and Grand Cinemas, today announced plans to host a special movie
screening in Dubai this weekend in support of the Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund.
The
charity screening event will take place on Saturday, 23 November at Grand
Cinemas in Ibn Battuta Mall. ‘Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ and Filipino film
‘It Takes A Man and A Woman’ will be screened in a back-to-back movie marathon
running from 5pm to 9pm in Cinema Screen 18. All proceeds from the event will be
donated to help victims of the recent Typhoon Haiyan disaster in the
Philippines.
With
a CSR policy that supports a better life for all, q.media and Gulf Film Group
are committed to identifying and contributing to international relief efforts
that can positively impact the global economy.
“As
concerned corporate citizens operating in a globalised economy it is important
that we contribute to the regeneration of those communities reeling from such
tragedies,” explained Jaber Al Ansari, Managing Director, Gulf Film.
q.media
and Gulf Film Group conceived of the charity screening initiative to extend
their support to their Filipino employees, whose families and friends have been
affected by the natural disaster.
“The
UAE community has been so generous in the wake of the Typhoon Haiyan tragedy
and I am pleased that, with the support of q.media and Gulf Film, we can host
this special screening to further benefit the Typhoon Haiyan Relief Fund.
“We have a large Filipino workforce at Gulf Film who have been directly impacted by
this horrific storm and so we wanted to unite everyone in an initiative that
demonstrated solidarity while making a financial contribution to those affected
in the Philippines,” said Debbie Stanford Kristiansen, Chief Executive Officer
of Grand Cinemas.
