@DubaiSchoolsFC Dubai’s Future Football Stars Shine at the Dubai Schools Football Cup

The Dubai Schools Football Cup heats up with clear top spot contenders emerging during the fourth week.  In the under 15 boys groups  Sabis Cheouifat school in a surprising turn of events is now tied in standings with Dubai National School who had been clear winners from week 1 with 21 points each.

They young men from Sabis Choueifat School displayed some great talent on the pitch playing and winning 3 matches yesterday.   Following closely behind with 18 points each are Al Shafie and Rashid Bin Saleh Schools. With two more weeks to go in the group stages, the air is thick with excitement as teams vie to qualify for the quarterfinals with their sights set on the big prize: the trip of a lifetime to Old Trafford in the UK to participate in a football clinic with Manchester United coaches and watch Manchester United premier league game at the iconic stadium, courtesy of Chevrolet and Emirates NBD

The Cup is also helping to discover Dubai’s young football talent as coaches from across Dubai’s Clubs and the Spanish Soccer School scout talent, keenly observing all the players on the pitch.   "The Dubai Schools Football Cup is providing us with a unique opportunity to witness and encourage the skills of school children from all across Dubai. Within the first weeks of the tournament we have already seen high-quality matches and young players with real talent and myself and the coaches at the Dubai Sports City Football Academy have taken note of their abilities. In fact, we have reached out to a number of students to discuss how we can help develop their skills and pave the way to take their games forward to the next level and beyond - and, who knows, maybe even to professional football,” said Michel Salgado, Director of Dubai Schools Football Cup.

In the under 12 boys team one of the most anticipated matches of the tournament was played between Al Shafie School and Hatta Primary School for Boys.  Both teams have displayed some unrivaled skill in the past three weeks and all eyes were on these two young teams.  Al Shafie came away with a 10-0 win.

Ali Abdul Kareem led his team in the win scoring 4 of the goals. Displaying focus, determination and with no desire to give up he cleared a path to the back of the net time and again.   “This tournament has been great for us.  We love football and want to win so we can watch one of our favorite teams, Manchester United play,” said Ali.

Al Shafie are now in the top three under 12 boys with 21 points in tie with Lycee Francais International George Pompidou and both teams trailing closely behind Dubai National School.

And over on the Fait Maison pitch yesterday a fierce game of agility, speed and sheer tenacity was played by both Winchester Jebel Ali and Westminster girls under 16 teams as they met for the last match of the day. Cheered on by throngs of spectators Winchester squeezed in a 3 -1 win during this nail-biting game. Refs, coaches, and cup organizers all agree, the players are getting better week on week and these girls, with their passion for football, are clearly in it to win it.

Lycee Francais International George Pompidou continue to lead in the under 16 group while St. Mary’s Catholic School are now leading in the under 13 group two points ahead of Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein School.
