@DusitThaniAD Dahlia Mahmoud exhibits at Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi

Exhibiting for the first time in the UAE, Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi is proud to welcome eclectic mixed-media artist Dahlia Mahmoud.
From 17 November to 14 December, 2013 Dusit Thani Abu Dhabi will be exhibiting the artwork of Dahlia Mahmoud in the form of nine large mixed-media canvases, combining photography, illustration, calligraphy, digital design and painting.
Dahlia's artwork takes on a non-traditional form, challenging pre-conceived barriers on what "art" should be and her bold statements have won her several awards. The series exhibited, titled Letters to God, is the culmination of a five-year project of a softer and more mystical approach to Dahlia’s message of compassion in documenting the human journey towards the light.
Dahlia Mahmoud is Nubian Sudanese of origin, currently based in Kuwait via Canada with a ten-year stay in the USA and a permanent address in Cairo. Much like Abu Dhabi, she is multicultural in character and diversely coloured. She holds a BFA Cum Laude in graphic design from Minnesota State University as well as two graduate degrees, both MA with distinction, in digital arts and photography & digital imaging from Maryland Institute. Alongside her professional career – Dahlia is currently the Creative Director of a Kuwaiti Cinema & TV Productions Agency – she has held various academic and teaching posts at the American University of Kuwait, The Art Institute of Washington and Maryland Institute College of Arts.
The artwork is for sale at around USD 7-8,000 per canvas, depending on the piece.
