Just Falafel is launching nationwide awareness campaign targeting schools across the UAE to fight the nation’s growing obesity problem. More than one child in three is overweight or obese, and according to a recent study by a BMC Public Health journal the UAE has become the fifth ‘fattest’ nation in the world. To address this concern, Just Falafel has brought on a qualified nutritionist and is tackling the matter hands-on by visiting schools to educate students on balanced eating.

‘Obesity is a global epidemic and it’s becoming an increasingly important issue in the UAE,” said Mohamad Bitar, Just Falafel, Founder & Managing Director “With Just Falafel’s community outreach program, our goal is to empower the younger generation with the knowledge to make healthy eating and lifestyle choices at an early age. Recent upgrades to our menu, including organic and fresh juice options encourage the general public to take note of health-conscious options for those on the go.”

The community campaign will take place throughout the month of November, targeting schools across the UAE. Driving this campaign will be Hala Barghout, Just Falafel’s dedicated Nutritionist & Health Promoter, whose aim is to promote long term healthy eating and living through simple dietary and lifestyle changes.

Obesity and malnutrition are a rising problem amongst children and teenagers of the UAE due to lack of health awareness and education. This is why launching this campaign at schools is key.” Children and adolescents should be educated about good eating habits at a young age. Said Hala Barghout, Just Falafel Nutritionist & Health Promoter.

Helping children achieve healthy lives certainly is a compelling reason to foster their health and nutrition awareness for the long term.”
