The newest addition to Dubai’s Chinese Restaurant scene - Ba Restaurant & Lounge – is delighted to announce its first Chinese New Year celebration at Fairmont The Palm on the evening of Friday 31st January 2014.
To celebrate Chinese New Year and welcome the Year of the Horse, Master Chef Lau Pak has created a unique 4 course menu using auspicious ingredients to bestow good fortune upon Ba Restaurant & Lounge’s guests.  Guests will be gifted traditional money bags filled with fortune chocolate coins, dried fruit, nuts and traditional Chinese snacks and treated to delicacies including the prosperity-bringing black moss, dried oysters which are sought after by China’s entrepreneurs seeking ‘good business’; and sticky cake which is traditionally offered to children “so that they may grow strong and healthy, “explains Chef Lau Pak.
Sharing a meal is a central part of Chinese New Year. “Families will travel far and wide to make sure they celebrate New Year’s Eve together as it’s the most important occasion of the year, we call it the ‘reunion day’. ” says Chef Lau. True to custom, Ba’s New Year menu will include a number of symbolic foods including noodles -  eaten for long life; clams, which look like coins - eaten for wealth; and fish, the Chinese word for which sounds similar to the word for "abundance," thus  symbolizing success.
Throughout the evening guests can enjoy the sounds of renowned DJ Jason Kabuki who will take to the decks until the clock strikes twelve when guests will be treated to a celebratory glass and a taste of traditional dumplings – enjoyed at midnight as is customary in China.

Ba’s Chinese New Year costs AED 588 per person and includes a 4 course menu and a traditional Chinese gift
Chinese New Year Tips From Ba Restaurant & Lounge
Clean your house from top to bottom and pay off all debts before New Year.
Decorate your home to welcome in the New Year. Red is a popular colour as it scares away evil spirits and bad fortune.
Place mandarins in bowls throughout the house. Mandarins with their leaves still intact are the fruits of happiness for the New Year. Keep their numbers even though, as uneven numbers bring unhappiness.
Wear new clothes and ensure you are polite to others on the first day of the New Year – it sets the tone for the year to come.
Celebrate New Year with a family dinner at Ba Restaurant & Lounge.  Traditional dishes include uncut noodles – a symbol of longevity – and fish and chicken, symbols of prosperity.
