Ballet is the most beautiful of dance forms. It’s a style that looks so graceful and effortless, yet requires such skill, technique and strength. Perhaps it has always been a dream of yours to move like a ballerina but that goal seems out of arms reach. Well don’t worry, there is a solution right here in Dubai!

James and Alex Dance Studios now have drop-in ballet classes on offer, allowing you to attend as much or as little as your schedule allows. The ballet classes will be focused on beginner and improver dance students, with expert ballet instructor, Aimée Després leading you every step of the way.

It’s not every day you that come across a dancer as versatile as Aimée Després. Born in a small town in Nova Scotia, Canada, Aimée was introduced to and fell in love with dance at a very young age. She trained in classical and neoclassical ballet at the Goh Ballet Academy in Vancouver, one of the most prestigious dance schools in Canada. Aimée later joined the Source Dance Company training extensively in contemporary, modern, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop and house. Dance has taken Aimée across the world and she has choreographed several works including the promo commercial for ‘So You Think You Can Dance Canada’.

Aimée enjoys creating and performing works that inspire others. She aspires to make ballet accessible to people of all walks of life and hopes to share her passion with you. Aimée also teaches contemporary dance at the studios.

Technique is key when it comes to classical ballet and you can set yourself personal goals to achieve. Even professional ballerinas have to rehearse the basic steps as they strive for perfection. So don’t be afraid of your own ability. You can work towards the steps and style at a pace that suits YOU.

The drop-in ballet classes take place every Wednesday 6pm-7pm and Saturday 1030am-1130am. Each session costs AED 65 as a single class, or for those feeling more ambitious you can purchase a package of 12 X 1hr classes for AED 720 or 24 X 1hr classes for AED 1,375.

James & Alex Dance Studios is one of the largest studios in the heart of the city, boasting three stunning studios and 4,000 square feet of space. So you’ll have plenty of room to pirouette your way to Swan Lake and perfect your arabesque!
