NAACH is a vibrant and eclectic Indian
dance experience coming to the DUCTAC Centrepoint Theatre, Mall Of The Emirates on
Thursday, the 27th February 2014.
Produced by Gurukul Dubai, the pulsating dance
production will take you on a journey through the different eras of Indian
cinema. NAACH brings together diverse classical, folk and contemporary dance
forms from India woven together in a story of magical romance and cultural
exploration. “It is a story of an NRI dance instructor completely disconnected
from his roots – exploring his culture because of love”, explains Artistic
Director and Guru Pali Chandra “it is a story that any global citizen can
relate to – the idea of finding a connection between the home you are from and
the one you live in- very apt for the Dubai audience…at least that is what we
feel”.
The production led by internationally
acclaimed Kathak danseuse and choreographer Pali Chandra brings together 62 of
the best locally grown dance talent in an emotionally charged ode to 100 years
of Indian Cinema.
“We have really focused on bringing
together the best of artistic energies in Dubai who are passionate about
dance”, continues Pali Chandra “We have the dynamic Hitesh Rajani of Dance India
Dance fame, Nationally acclaimed Bharathnatyum experts Jatin & Shruti
Subramanian who have recently been honored with Naatya Saradi awards in India,
Dubai’s Kalathilakam Vineetha Mohan and many more such names with years of
dance experience, training, and triumphs behind them.
She further adds, “As an audience you get
to relive the elegance, grace & charm of the yesteryears and still
experience the funk, energy and vibrancy of the current generation
– it is a complete dance package!”
Unlike a conventional Bollywood extravaganza,
the production is seated within a classical dance format and is technically
challenging, artistically forward and narratively engaging. It is specially designed for a modern
multicultural audience that has sophisticated dance palette. NAACH is also a
personal statement about what a group of professional Kathak dancers can create
– it is all about flying with roots!
Project Lead and Founder of Gurukul Dubai,
Somna Tugnait says “Bollywood has always been close to Dubai cine-goers’ hearts.
With Dubai winning the expo bid and
Bollywood celebrating its centenary last year- it presented the right time for
Dubai’s local talent to celebrate an industry that entertains millions!
Magic unravels in two shows happening at
6pm and 8:30 pm on the 27th of Feb. Tickets are on sale on Time Out
Tickets, DUCTAC, MOE & Chinchaaus Restaurant. NAACH is supported by Colours
TV, MTV, Glance Fashion, Joy Alukkas, Gulf Technical Printing Press and
