Traditional decor, cultural activities and family entertainment throughout the Holy Month
Majid Al Futtaim Properties’ six shopping malls across the UAE are fostering the community spirit during the Holy Month of Ramadan, by offering a variety of traditional activities for families and visitors of all backgrounds. The malls are also adorned with decorative trimmings, providing a welcoming ambience that also reminds guests of the true essence of this special occasion. In Dubai, Mall of the Emirates has created a glittering starry night display featuring tens of thousands of lights, circling a giant crescent moon – a traditional Ramadan symbol in the Central Galleria. Deira City Centre and Mirdif City Centre have created perfect photo opportunities with oversized lanterns on display in rainbow colours, plus decorative ornaments and arabic motifs hanging around the mall. Families and friends will also have a wide range of Arabic and International restaurants serving Iftar and Sohour to choose from, with late-night opening hours.
Throughout Ramadan, City Centre malls will be hosting the Art of Calligraphy exhibition by Glory Art Gallery. The special collection of Ramadan-themed calligraphy will be on display for two weeks at Mirdif City Centre in the Oasis Walk area until July 22nd, then it will be moved to the LOVE Art Gallery in the Metro Link at Deira City Centre from July 23rd-August 3rd. Moreover, 20% of proceeds from the artwork sales will go towards the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children.
In addition, exclusively at Mirdif City Centre, visitors can enjoy nightly performances of traditional folk dance as colourfully dressed Tanoura dancers come to life at 8:30pm, 9:30pm, 10:30pm and 11:30pm in the Central Galleria.
The festivities will also be recognised in the Northern Emirates as Ajman City Centre, Fujairah City Centre and Sharjah City Centre are inviting families and residents in the community to enjoy some of their activities this Ramadan.
Ajman City Centre will be celebrating the auspicious occasion of Laylath al Qadar on July 27th– widely regarded as anniversary that the Quran was first believed to be revealed to Prophet Mohammad. In addition to traditional Ramadan decor, Ajman City Centre will be distributing sweets to children visiting the mall on this day. The mall’s Facebook page will also present a wide range of value-added specials for shoppers in addition to posting daily prayer timings.
Fujairah City Centre will be spreading its warmth and hospitality this Holy Month by offering refreshments to all visitors at traditional hospitality tents including dates, the traditional jallab drink and Arabic coffee while special bakhoor – or incense will be burning throughout. Serving hours will be from Iftar to midnight daily starting the second week of Ramadan. For the little ones, there will be complimentary kid’s games and activities every Friday throughout the month, hosted in partnership with the Fujairah Tourism & Antiquities Authority. Facebook fans can also participate in some of the festivity and those who dine at any of mall’s restaurants between 7:00pm-9:00pm throughout Ramadan can present their bill to Customer Service for the chance to win vouchers from VOX Cinemas, Magic Planet and Carrefour.
Sharjah City Centre will be providing dates and Arabic coffee for all visitors for two hours every evening, to spread the spirit of generosity and community. Facebook fans also have the opportunity to get involved with a special contest and hunt for the chance to win some prizes.
Across the UAE, all of Majid Al Futtaim Properties’ shopping malls will be extending their opening hours to 1:00am throughout the week, with restaurants and cafes open to as late as 3:00am depending on the outlet.
