The rising heat of UAE’s summer does not put a hold on activities taking place in the Saadiyat Cultural District. Abu Dhabi’s growing culture hub is constantly bustling with ongoing cultural programmes including exhibitions, special events, and public and educational initiatives at Manarat Al Saadiyat, the arts centre on Saadiyat Island.
Louvre Abu Dhabi’s exhibition Birth of a Museum has been extended by a month and will remain open until August 24, 2013. Opening the exhibition throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan and the summer holidays provides one last chance for visitors to experience Louvre Abu Dhabi’s preview of its significant collection which has already had an overwhelming response.Birth of a Museum presents a singular and original rereading of the history of art around several key artistic and aesthetic questions core to the identity of the new museum and between art works from great civilisations from the most ancient times to the contemporary identifying Louvre Abu Dhabi as the first Universal museum in the region. The exhibition has been a huge success since opening in mid-April.
The next few month’s visitors to the island can experience green initiatives at the Eco Future Exhibition, ongoing until September 1st, a handful of workshops open to children, teens, and adults covering metal etching and artistic sketching techniques. Curated specifically for the Holy Month, Ramadan Cultural Talks will take place at Manarat Al Saadiyat with guest speakers, experts in their fields, discussing Islamic art and architecture (already on 11 July) and the multiple meanings of minarets (on 22 July).
Manarat Al Saadiyat exhibition opening times during The Holy Month of Ramadan:10:00 - 14:00 and 20:30 - 23:30
