Google Launches Dedicated Ramadan Hub to Celebrate Holy Month @google

Livestream of the Hajj from Mecca, Live-cooking Hangouts with celebrity chefs and trending searches among services offered to users across the globe

Google announced today it is launching a dedicated hub for the Holy month of Ramadan. The hub, www.google.com/ramadan will feature a wide variety of services to Muslims all around the globe to celebrate the Holy month of Ramadan.

The new page for Ramadan 2013 will feature suggestions on how to catch up with friends and family no matter where you are, the ability to watch select videos off of YouTube, and the chance to drop in to live cook-along Hangouts with celebrity chefs from around the world, and even to find the best commute routes home at the end of the day on your way back from work.

In addition to Hangouts, the hub will also enable users to experience the world’s largest pilgrimage to perform the ritual of Umrah by tuning in to the live stream from Mecca, Saudi Arabia on the Saudi Ministry of Culture and Information's YouTube channel, available directly on the hub.

Another feature provided by the dedicated Ramadan hub is the “Trending searches” which will offer insights as to the search habits of users in countries across MENA and South East Asia. These trending searches will showcase the topics of interest across various categories.

Users will also be able to see how people around the world are celebrating Ramadan. Users can search for the hashtag #breakingfast / إفطار# on Google+ to see the latest stream of posts and photos. Users can also send through your own special moments by simply sharing their favorite photo or post on Google+ and tagging their post with  #breakingfast / إفطار#.
