Social agenda a priority for Abu Dhabi Media @AbuDhabiMedia with appointment of new head of public service affairs

- Abdul Raheem Al Bateeh to drive public service engagement across all ADM brands -

The Middle East’s fastest growing and multiplatform media company, Abu Dhabi Media (ADM), has reaffirmed its commitment to the role of the media in helping to support social and cultural development by appointing Abdul Raheem Al Bateeh as Director of Public Service Affairs.
Commenting on the appointment, Saif Ghobash, Chief Operating Officer, Abu Dhabi Media, said:  “In today’s interlinked world the global media is a critical force in shaping social and cultural identity.  We have a tremendous responsibility to provide the platforms, networks and content that not only protect national heritage but also reflect the progressive and inclusive nature of Arab society.
“This is particularly significant given the rapid pace of development in the United Arab Emirates and our role in supporting the Abu Dhabi vision.  Al Bateeh is a first class journalist who has experienced the rise of citizen journalism – the ability of anyone, anywhere to shape the news – and will play a central role in advancing our public services locally, regionally and internationally.”
ADM’s public service agenda has two primary purposes.  Firstly, through its networks and platforms ADM is a vital force in communicating the UAE’s position on regional and international affairs and, specifically, the nation’s values of moderation, tolerance, peace and dialogue.

Secondly, through the diversity of its brands which reach every demographic segment, ADM supports the five pillars of the emirate’s 2030 vision by showcasing new, relevant and appropriate content in the areas of education, culture, environment, health and sport.
Al Bateeh’s remit is to focus on balancing these two objectives through a coordinated and progressive approach to content development.
Moving to public service affairs with a portfolio of 17 years  of experience in the media field and after previously serving as Director of news at Abu Dhabi TV, Al Bateeh has deep understanding of the government’s vision for Abu Dhabi and a wealth of experience and high level contacts.
“At Abu Dhabi Media we have a breadth of media assets – from film production through television and radio networks, newspapers and magazines to online portals – that is unmatched in the Arab world and provides us with a unique opportunity to reach audiences in multi-screen, multi-format environments to tell the Abu Dhabi story in a compelling, objective manner,” said Al Bateeh.
“Additionally, our range of assets also provide us with unrivalled commercial opportunities because through them brands can reach every single demographic across the region and beyond.”
While media fragmentation, citizen journalism and electronic publishing have combined to erode international and cultural boundaries globally, ADM believes it has a responsibility to not only celebrate social diversity and economic progress, but also maintain a strong sense of national identity and heritage.
For example, through training and national talent development, ADM has contributed to the quality and competitiveness of locally produced content that celebrates and supports Emirati culture, empowers Emirati women and children by addressing issues of concern to them, and promotes a culture of excellence among youth.
