Syrian children find ‘big sisters with big hearts’ as Sharjah Ladies Club @ShjLadiesClub launches 360-degree range of activities to boost Big Heart campaign

Innovative ideas include donating a day’s salary, branded scarves & flags, suhoor event and electronic fundraising

In a heartwarming gesture, Sharjah Ladies Club (SLC) is showing its motherly and sisterly side to Syrian refugees by launching a diverse range of fundraising activities. This will greatly benefit the ‘Big Heart for Syrian Refugee Children’ campaign, which is spearheaded by the ‘Big Heart’, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children.

The activities include encouraging employees to donate a day’s salary, a suhoor charity event, selling branded scarves and flags, and many other innovative fundraising activities that will alleviate the suffering of almost a million Syrian children who are now refugees in countries like Lebanon, Jordan, Turkey and as far as North African countries like Libya.

Announcing the activities, Amna Al Shanasi, Managing Director of the SLC said: “Sharjah Ladies Club has a reputation for attracting ambitious ladies who have a fresh way of thinking, and we are now putting together our imaginative spirits and compassion to lessen the suffering of innocent young angels who have no homes, no country and no rights. The inspirational efforts of HH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, UNHCR Eminent Advocate for Refugee Children, have motivated us to explore extraordinary ideas as opposed to ordinary fundraising channels.”

Expressing her appreciation for the SLC’s generous fundraising support, Noura Al Noman, Director of the Executive Office of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi said: “Syrian children now know that they will always have loving sisters and mothers in Sharjah. They might be separated by many miles and borders, but Sharjah Ladies Club has shown that our hearts beat as one in support of these defenseless victims.”

According to Shaima Obaid, the SLC’s E-Marketing Executive, the Eastern and Central branches of the SLC have come together and tabled a range of creative activities that are geared to raise the highest possible funds for almost 2 million Syrian refugees. As part of its forward-thinking approach to fundraising, the SLC is marketing all its activities electronically via social media platforms.

Besides the actual funds generated, another massive ripple effect of the SLC’s activities is that they are also raising awareness among the Sharjah populace, thereby creating many potential donors in a domino effect of generosity.

Donors can make life-saving contributions to the ‘Big Heart for Syrian Refugee Children’ campaign. Funds are collected through ‘Salam Ya Seghar’, endorsed by HH Sheikha Jawaher.
