@mallofemirates‏ @KempinskiDubai 600m of Stollen Cake to be sold for charity this Saturday, 7 December at Mall of the Emirates

Mall of the Emirates and Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates spread festive cheer for a good cause

15 chefs from the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates are busily working to create the longest string of German stollen cake to-date – 600 metres to be exact, and it’s all in the name of charity as the 8th Annual Stollen Charity Cake takes place on Saturday December 7th.  Hosted by the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates in partnership with Mall of the Emirates, this family event hopes to set a new fundraising record by selling every last slice of the traditional fruitcake for the Dubai Centre for Special Needs.

“Mall of the Emirates is pleased to again host the 8th Annual Stollen Charity Cake event with the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, and help ring in the holiday season with some festive cheer for the family,” said Anna Mansour, Associate Director for Mall of the Emirates. “This year’s event is bigger than ever, with 600 metres of stollen to be sold for charity, so we encourage the community to come and support the event, in addition to taking home some delicious cake.”

Starting at 10:00am on Saturday December 7th, the Central Galleria at Mall of the Emirates will transform into a fruitcake festival, as all 600 metres of stollen will be laid out on tables, ready for purchase and consumption. Stollen loaves are 60 centimetres long, and can be sold for AED 100, a half loaf for AED 50 or by the slice, at just AED 5 each. Volunteers, dressed in festive costume, will be handing out mouthwatering samples to shoppers, and creating an energetic vibe as the countdown begins until the last slice of stollen is sold.

Konstantin Zeuke, General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates said, “The team at the hotel is extremely excited to once again participate in this amazing project, which is one of the highlights of the year for the hotel." He continued: "We have worked really hard to make this year's event even better with more funds raised than previous years. Nothing makes us happier than supporting a good cause and we look forward to having Dubai's residents joining us and taking part in the Stollen Charity Cake Sale."
Helping to spread the holiday cheer, Santa Claus will be making a very special visit at 3:00pm, to meet with kids and also welcome some very important helpers – children from the Dubai Centre for Special Needs, who will be helping to sell the stollen and handing out samples. In the spirit of giving, key sponsors of the event: Toy Store, IT’Sugar and Magic Planet will also be giving away gifts, vouchers and sweets for the kids.
This year, more than 2,210 eggs, 600 kilograms of flour, 278 kilograms of raisins and 55 kilograms of marzipan will be used to create this mouthwatering delicacy. Moreover, 120 kilograms of lemons and 131 kilograms of oranges will be zested, giving a burst of citrus flavour At 600 metres long, this will be the largest string of stollen made to-date by the Executive Chef at the Kempinski and his team of 14, who are already working towards reaching this goal.

To-date the Stollen Charity Cake Sale by the Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates and Mall of the Emirates has succeeded in raising more than AED 322, 265 for the Dubai Centre for Special Needs, a charitable non-profit organisation that works hard towards providing a brighter future to children with special needs.
