Dance, the Middle East’s leading dance company, brings back the annual Sharmila
Dance Gala in its third year running. The gala will feature an array of styles
with international talent coming from globally acclaimed dance companies set to
take center stage this Friday, December 13th at 2:30pm and 7:30pm at
Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC, Mall of The Emirates.
The Sharmila Dance Gala will showcase a wonderland of
artistic performances ranging from Jazz, Salsa, Tango, Hip-Hop, Break Dance,
Contemporary, Classical Ballet, Indian Fusion, Aerial Silk and Contortion. The
audience can expect to see a spectacular celebration of dance and an event of
unmatched caliber.
Sharmila Kamte, Founder, Choreographer and Creative
Director of Sharmila Dance and the Sharmila Dance Gala said: “For one day, on
one stage, there will be an unprecedented exhibition of talent and beauty in
the physical art form with international and local dance stars. I’m excited to
offer cultural enthusiasts, as well as encourage the wider public in the UAE to
not miss out on this rare showcase of diversity, talent and passion.”

The show will feature world famous Principal dancer
Alicia Amatriain and partner David Moore from the esteemed Stuttgart Ballet
company that are being specially flown in for the event to perform a piece from
Tchaikovsky’s classic “Swan Lake”, as well as a playful contemporary piece,
“Come Neve”. Amatriain has received several international awards from the dance
world and is best known as “Outstanding Dancer” of Dance Europe.
Most recognized for her performance in London’s Phantom
of the Opera and for being a core member in the prominent English National
Ballet Company, Amy Hollins will be mesmerizing audiences with a solo
piece entitled “Palladio”. Hollins will also be performing alongside Hakim
Saber, a break dancer from Hollywood films Street Dance 3D, Street
Dance 2 and World Hip Hop Champion, a duet called “Nuttin’ but Stringz”
where Ballet meets Hip Hop. Both numbers are choreographed by Jenna Lee,
Choreographer and Soloist from the English National Ballet Company.
Notorious for their Hip Hop, Jazz and Contemporary
choreographies performed at some of the biggest events in the UAE, professional
dancers from Sharmila Dance will showcase some of their most admired, as well
as brand new routines that encompass a versatility of dance genres and
technical styles.
Former Principal dancer from the prestigious Bucharest
Opera Ballet Company, Loredana Solaoru, who is now based in Dubai and performs
exclusively with Sharmila Dance will be presenting a piece from the celebrated
Spanish ballet “Don Quixote” alongside Columbian performance artist, John
Freddy.
World Salsa Champions and the UAE’s top Latin dancers,
El Firulete BNF Dance Company will set the stage on fire with sizzling Salsa
and Tango numbers.
Gurukul, an Indian Dubai-based performing arts academy
will fuse together the best of Bollywood, Indian Folk and Kathak styles of
dance with Pali Chandra in the star role. Chandra is an ambassador of Indian
culture, has personally performed for the Queen of England, and was awarded
“Woman of Excellence in the UAE 2013”.
Furthermore, audiences are set to be astounded by
mystifying circus-like performances from Aerial Silk artists Valeria Baigacheva
and Mario Mira, as well as Contortionist, Olga Gregorieva from the Big Moscow
Circus.

appreciation for the dance community in the UAE is manifesting and I would like

Show times are at 2:30pm and 7:30pm on Friday,
