Monte-Carlo Beach Club, Saadiyat has appointed Chef Gavin Gleeson to head up its culinary team.
Chef Gavin who hails from Ireland said about his appointment: “I’m delighted to be joining the team at Monte-Carlo Beach Club, Saadiyat. Abu Dhabi is gradually becoming a gastronomic destination and I’m excited to take part in its culinary journey.”Having worked at two Michelin starred restaurants in London and Dublin, and most recently as the executive chef at Marco Pierre White’s Wheelers in Dubai, Gavin wants to ensure he makes his mark at the beach club, keeping up with the French Riviera spirit.
Gavin added: “Le Deck is already known as a fantastic, award-winning restaurant with its high quality of ingredients, a dedicated service and innovative dishes. I want to push this further as I believe in the potential of this exceptional place, especially with the club’s strong links to its sister restaurant in Monaco. I want to bring some of that European culinary excellence to Abu Dhabi.
“The Elsa restaurant in Monaco is one of my biggest inspirations for Le Deck – being one of only a handful of restaurants which is 100% organic. I’m very keen to start using more organic produce in the kitchen here at Le Deck – I’m hoping to get our very own Monte-Carlo Beach Club organic garden set up!”
Bill Loveday, general manager at Monte-Carlo Beach Club, Saadiyat said of his new culinary appointment: “We’re so pleased to have Gavin join our team. With his wealth of experience we’re excited to see how Le Deck will grow in the coming months under his leadership.”
Gavin’s first act as executive chef at Le Deck was to create a brand new business lunch and revamp Le Deck’s menus, featuring dishes such as chicken parfait with onion marmalade and toasted brioche, saffron risotto or back to classic Italian dish Tagliatelle Ragu alla bollognese.
On his new business lunch menu, Gavin said: “Coming into the wintery months, I wanted to make comforting and filling food – all to fit within a lunch hour. The menu changes weekly, and you can mix and match all our dishes, so you can have a completely new experience each time you visit. The service is flexible based on guests’ requirements.”
Those looking to experience Gavin’s new business menu can do every weekday at Le Deck, from just AED 99 for two courses or AED 129 for three.
