Prestat, The Queen’s chocolates made their
first arrival to the region in a spectacular English Afternoon Tea at Lafayette
Gourmet, Galeries Lafayette in The Dubai Mall, appointed Purveyor of Chocolates
to Her Majesty The Queen of the United Kingdom, was launched to a host of media
professionals and experts.
Nick Crean,
chairman and product developer of Prestat Chocolates, having bought Prestat with
his half brother Bill Keeling in 1998 and has since brought it to the world.
Nick’s love for chocolate is unquenchable: “Dubai is a great destination to
bring the chocolate loved by Her Majesty the Queen, especially since we’re
confident it would be a great fit in the region.”
Antoine
Dufour, founded Prestat Chocolates in 1902, using the chocolate truffle recipe
his brother had created in 1895, opening a small shop on Oxford Street, making
it one of the oldest and finest chocolate houses in the country.
Nick added :
“This opening in Lafayette is very exciting and important to us and it brings
us closer to our clientele and chocolates lovers. We bring our promise of
London’s most exquisite naughtiness to Dubai and the region.”
Prestat is
one of the oldest chocolates shops in the world and one of the most loved fine
chocolate brands in the UK. The brand was voted to be one of the top three
chocolate brands in the world by The Economist Magazine. Prestat chocolates is
found in high-end department stores, gourmet food halls, delicatessens,
lifestyle stores, and travel retail outlets, as well as top-end supermarkets. Today,
the brand sells in the leading chocolate concession at Harrods, Selfridges, Liberty, John Lewis, and Waitrose. Nick’s
idea for Prestat as gift boxes stands out in stores, thanks to Kitty Arden, the
award winning British artist, who created the stunning packaging for Prestat
Chocolates.
Prestat
Chocolates is more than a bestseller at Harrods, it comes with a history and
heritage of being loved. It was a favored haunt of Roald Dahl, author of “Charlie
and the Chocolate Factory”, who made Prestat truffles the centerpiece of his
novel “My Uncle Oswald”.
Prestat’
social commitment is reflected through giving back, as it is committed to
trading fairly with West African farmers, and has sponsored an SMS delivery
system to famers of market prices through esoko.com, improving their incomes by
at least 20%.
All this
comes together to highlight the importance of Prestat to fine chocolate history
and to the elites and connoisseurs in the United Kingdom. Prestat Chocolates has held two Royal Warrants
of Quality and Craftsmanship as
Purveyors of Chocolates to her Majesty The Queen in 1975 and to Her Majesty the
Queen Mother in 1999.
Russell Impiazzi, culinary director at Lafayette
Gourmet, was eager to emphasize the
excitement surrounding this launch: “Its great to finally have Prestat
chocolate in Lafayette Gourmet, it brings a little bit of London here to
Dubai! It does fantastically well in
Harrods, so I am sure it will be a great success with us here too. It’s a great
range, not just the quality of the chocolate, the whole presentation is great
too….”
Ahmad Al
Sawaleh, Business Development Manager in the Lifestyle division of OBS Group,
described the arrival of Prestat Chocolates to the region as: “The cherry on
top. What distinguishes Prestat from other brands in Dubai is not only the long
history and popularity among royalty. It is particularly the finesse,
modernity, and playfulness in which it is crafted, maintaining the highest
quality and its lively, fun approach.”
Prestat is
distributed exclusively by OBS Group.
