10 Energy Saving Tips for your Refrigerator
-          Brought to you by Eros Group

1.       Keeping your refrigerator full actually helps increase energy efficiency because there is less air to cool when space is taken up

2.       Make sure you keep liquids covered and also to wrap foods when they are stored in the refrigerator as uncovered foods leave moisture making the compressor work harder

3.       Refrigerators and freezers should not be set too cold; Refrigerators should maintain a temperature of 2.7 to 4.4 degrees Celsius and freezers should be at minus 15 degrees Celsius

4.       Make sure that there is proper air flow around the refrigerator without any hindrances so that it can run more efficiently

5.       Automatic ice makers increase a refrigerator's energy use by 14-20%. Turn yours off, and go back to ice cube trays

6.       Placing cereal boxes and other junk on top of your refrigerator could block heat from escaping and cause it to work harder – not good for your electric bill or the lifespan of your fridge

7.       Always keep your refrigerator on the energy saving mode as regardless of how much food you keep in your fridge, it will save the energy when you’re not using it

8.       To maximize the refrigerator efficiency, it is important to ensure that there is space at the back, sides and top of fridges to allow excess heat to escape. Restricting aeration can add approximately 15% to the energy use of the fridge

9.       Allow hot food to cool before putting them in the refrigerator

10.   Instead of regularly opening and closing the refrigerator before cooking, try to conserve energy by getting all of the ingredients out at once
