United Arab Emirates, Dubai, 14
November 2012: Global
Village, a Member of TECOM Investments and the region’s leading cultural,
entertainment and retail destination has just announced the start of
registration for its 2012-2013 Media Awards Competition. Currently in its third
consecutive year, the Global Village Media Awards enable all Arabic and English
Media to participate in several award categories that reward print outlets.
This year’s
award theme focuses on “around the world in 161 days”, highlighting the
cultural diversity of the participating countries, in addition to Global
Village offers from activities, shows, and entertainment. The awards will
evaluate the comprehensive and creative coverage that members of the local
press can capture in both words and images.
Commenting on
the launch of the awards, Global Village CEO Saeed Ali Bin Redha commented:
“The Media Awards are one of the most important administrative tasks that
Global Village undertakes every year. Through the creative penmanship and
photographic skills, great moments are captured and conveyed to the public
about Global Village, and its position as a multi-cultural entity that unites
many different nationalities within the UAE. We are delighted with the launch
of this competition for the third consecutive year, and we hope to reward
members of the media for their genuine efforts in spreading the Global Village
messages of cultural diversity and highlight the park as a leading destination
for arts, hospitality and tourism in Dubai.”
Participants
can register their entries to the Global Village Media Awards by meeting all
the prerequisites and submit their applications and published material before
the 24th of March 2013. The Media Award categories are split into
three; Best Story, Best Media Coverage, Best Photography, and all three are
eligible for Arabic and English media outlets.
The
journalists that cover the events are considered Ambassadors of Global Village,
transmitting the excitement and richness of the events to their readers,
spurring their curiosity and in turn enticing them to come and enjoy this destination
of culture, entertainment and retail. Fittingly, Global Village management has
made sure that this appreciation is reflected by offering valuable and
meaningful prizes. There will be one winner for each category and this
individual will be rewarded with a solid gold coin carrying the Global Village
Logo on one side and details of the award category and date stamp on the other.
Participation
in the awards requires one published entry for the Best Story Award and a minimum
of five published stories for the Best Coverage Award. Registering entries for
both categories is possible, and in case of a double win, the Award will be
granted on the basis of the category in which the winner scored the highest,
ensuring that the journalist will win only one category; the other category’s prize will be awarded to
the runner up.
Other Award
qualifications include the focus on the “around the world in 161 days” theme,
to which the articles and photographic coverage should remain loyal.
Participants are asked to submit the original published articles coupled to an
application form at Global Village Media Center, and drop their sealed
envelopes in the dedicated drop box along with all the participants’
identification and contact details no later than the 24th of March
2013. Photographic entries should be
original and as published with image manipulation limited, photo-shopped and
digitally enhanced images are not eligible.
Bin Redha
reiterated on Global Village’s ongoing strive towards modernization and renewal
while implementing the highest standards of quality in visitor services as well
as maintaining the use of the latest technical support systems and strategic
partnership with all stakeholders in the private and public sector in order to
keep Global Village on the forefront of the arts, tourism and entertainment
sector in the region. For more
