The Annual Ice Show returns to Zayed Sports City

Abu Dhabi Figure Skating to put on two magical shows on December 7 and 8

Abu Dhabi, November 13, 2012: The Ice Show - one of the year’s most magical events - returns to Zayed Sports City at the start of December.

This year’s show is called “Seasons on Ice”, with performers taking the audience on a journey through a calendar year using seasonal imagery, mesmerising routines and colourful characters.

The Ice Show, now into its seventh year, will see more than 40 members of the Abu Dhabi Figure Skating team from 15 different countries perform two shows on the ice on December 7 and 8. Both shows will begin at at 5:30 p.m.

The show will feature Zahra Lari, the teenage figure skater from Abu Dhabi, who in preparing for the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic qualifiers may become the first Emirati figure skater to ever represent the UAE an Olympics.

Noemi Bedo, head coach of Abu Dhabi Figure Skating and herself a former Olympic skater and Romanian figure skating champion, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for people all over the country to see an incredibly fun and upbeat show that is brilliant for all the family.

“We are all delighted that Zahra is training for the qualifications of the Winter Olympics and I’m sure the audience will all agree that she really is very talented.

“The team includes performers as young as five and we have all been rehearsing the show since early September, a lot of time and effort has gone into the choreography, the choice of music as well as the costumes.

“The commitment and talent of the team here is incredible and I just know they are going to out-do themselves this year with a sparkling performance.
