2012
Dubai: November 19, 2012:
Global Village, the region’s leading cultural, shopping and family
entertainment outdoor destination, has begun the countdown to host Masala!
Mehndi! Masti! -- North America’s largest Free South Asian international
festival. This diverse festival of South Asian cultures makes its first
appearance in Dubai at Global Village from 22 – 24 November, with a busy 3-day
schedule during a festive season.
Conceptualized in Toronto, this annual festival as the
name implies, “Spice, Henna and Fun” has been spicing up crowds in Canada for
the past 11 years. It has hosted celebrities like Jay Sean, RDB, Abhay Deol,
Deepa Mehta, Lisa Ray, Boman Irani and hundreds of other artists who have
presented international entertainment to massive audiences.
In North America, M!M!M! has charted a success story
and aspires to lead the way for the first time in Dubai. It will be showcasing
a huge pool of local talents, with a focus on emerging artists.
Headlining the first edition of the festival outside
of Canada, the opening night on November 22 will witness Bollywood a
performance by music maestros Salim and Sulaiman Merchant, who will be
accompanied by UAE born and raised Canada based singer Shweta Subram.
