HAAD-accredited
MRCP study in Abu Dhabi
January 27-29 2013
The region’s
junior doctors and trainee medical specialists are being offered the chance to
study for the much sought-after Membership of the Royal College of Physicians
(MRCP) programme in January.
According to the
course leader, Imperial College London’s Professor Karim Meeran, MRCP Part 1
and Part 2 will take place from January 27-29 at
Imperial College London Diabetes Centre (ICLDC), the state-of-the art
centre for the treatment of diabetes in Abu Dhabi.

He said that the
programmes provide excellent preparation for the coveted MRCP examination, and
are held in partnership with UK’s Hammersmith Medicine.
“Anyone
who wants to specialise has to become a member (of MRCP) by taking this exam,
and it’s quite a difficult paper to pass.
“We
know the standards and have considered the sort of questions that will come up
and we coach doctors in a way that will make them better prepared to pass with
flying colours.”
He
added that as there is a need to expand this training for more doctors in the
region and so it makes sense for the courses to be held in the UAE. ICLDC has a
purpose-designed lecture theatre, interaction areas and offers easy access to a
number of hotels and airport.
“Indeed,
due to the success of previous programmes, the courses will now be offered at least three times a year by ICLDC. Both the MRCP 1 and 2 programme are continuously reviewed
by HAAD and accredited for 21.5
and 22 CME hours respectively,” he concluded.
