After cutting the ribbon, the guests took
a tour around the pavilion and headed to the Saudi Islamic Museum where the
largest book in the world “This is Muhammed” (PBUH), is showcased. A film was
presented about the making of the book, the awards it gained and places where
it was showcased. Guests took the initiative of signing on the dedicated page,
as the main objective of the book is to collect one million signatures in the
love and appreciation of the prophet of Islam, before the book continues its
tour to other cities.
The Saudi Pavilion is designed to host the
most authentic products and reflect the country’s most popular produce. On top
of the list, are the Saudi dates that are divided into two regions, Medinat and
Qassim. Dates come in many tastes and vary in nutrition, as some are extra
sweet and some are glucose-free, the latter being the best choice for people
with diabetes.
From the abundant Saudi dates, date
cookies became just as famous. Many top Saudi brands of date-filled cookies and
cakes are exhibited to give visitors the insights of this delight.
Saudi oil perfumes with homegrown notes
such as musk, Oud and fruity base are also available. The difference between
Saudi Perfumes and other countries is traced by the strength of oud-based
notes. Scents of Mecca Musk Oils and fruity lotions carry the Kingdom’s
signature perfumes which can be filled in trendy bottles and constitute the
best of gifts.
A long stop at the honey vendor showcases
more than 15 types of honey, who’s best farms are found in Abha and
Tayef. From chronic diseases, sinuses, cough to tonsillitis, there is always a
type of honey that cures the ailment. The most expensive, yet rare to find, is
the mountain honey which is recommended for incurable ailments.
Saudi traditional dresses are widely
showcased at various stands. From the Saudi men’s traditional head cover
“Chmagh” to the silver plated cufflinks with garnet, mark this season’s latest
collections. For decades, the traditional Saudi handmade sandals made from
camel leather still retain the same cut and only the design of the upper
continues featuring the colors of the season.
With a book that has gained 5
certifications from Guinness World Book of Records as the longest, widest, most
expensive and largest book in the world, dates and authentic dresses, KSA
Pavilion marks one of the main cultural attractions at Global Village.
