Dubai, UAE December 2012: Secure data flow and back-up are
crucial to today’s mobile workplace, according to a Dubai-based IT services and
products company.
Altaf
Alimohamed, managing director, Media Solutions, said that as more employees
take up mobile working options, including working from home, companies will
need to invest in state-of-the-art file sharing applications which enable
seamless, real-time collaboration locally or regionally.
“Teams
who opt to work remotely will need immediate access to the same information and
data as those working from conventional offices,” explained Alimohamed.
He
said there are enormous bottom-line benefits to companies offering remote
working options such as reduced office space, but warned that there are risks
to be factored into the equation.
“Recent
research suggests that digital information transfer will be around 35 trillion
gigabytes by 2020, requiring 44 times more data storage than that globally
available (just three years ago). This means data security will take on a
higher priority than ever before and holistic, file-sharing solutions which
challenge the need for building, running, maintaining and constantly upgrading
server-based IT services will come into their own,” explained Alimohamed.
Alimohamed
urged employers to investigate state-of-the-art file sharing applications, such
as Soonr. “The right cloud-based IT services and technology will help
businesses and their teams tie it all together,” he said.
His
comments follow hard on the heels of recent estimates from Ernst & Young
that confirm a trend towards an increasingly global and mobile talent market.
“Employers
will need to turn to technology for delivering flexible and secure working
arrangements,” added Alimohamed.
“Figures
show that, on average, a hard drive fails every 0.2 seconds and with holistic
applications, such as Soonr, teams can continue to work seamlessly with minimum
concern for data-loss as the application acts as PC-backups.”
Alimohamed
said industry research revealed the growth of smartphones, cloud systems and
other remote working solutions mean that employees begin their work tasks, such
as checking emails and submitting reports, long before they actually get to the
office.
“One
in five employees has already checked their work emails by seven in the
morning,” Alimohamed explained.
“The
average employee has spent up to 46 minutes working before they actually get to
the office and doesn’t stop working until after seven in the evening. Companies
embracing new holistic data protection solutions will have a more flexible and
mobile workforce, see greater productivity and reduced operating costs as their
employees opt for home-work scenarios.
“The
reality is that the increasing use of mobile devices and channels will continue
to dramatically transform working environments and to ahead of, or even with
the curve, employers will have to deliver secure data flow and back-up to allow
people to work securely and confidently anywhere, anyhow and at anytime.”
He
said that Soonr enables easy online and offline access to the same data
supported by over 42 compatible file types, enabling faster and improved
communication between employees and amongst customers and clients worldwide.
Files can be accessed from over 800 devices including iPhone, Android,
Blackberry from the web, across Macs and PCs.
