Mr. Waravudh Chuviruch, Ambassador of Thailand to the UAE; and Saeed Ali Bin Redha, the CEO of Global Village; in the presence of the Managing Director of Vega Intertrade and Exhibitions (the organizers of the Thai Pavilion) Mr. Akavut; in addition to a large number of VIPs and guests. From Thailand to Global Village in Dubai, the pavilion is a miniature model of bustling Bangkok. Heaps of glittering accessories, bands, T-shirts, children’s clothes and shoes, as well as cosmetics, exhibitors start their bids loud at a price of 5 AED only to enthuse visitors for a shopping spree.
Foremost, dried seafood and Thai fruits are packed in all colors and tastes. From dried prawns, one of the fastest selling items, to dried ginger, pineapple and sweet, salty or natural tamarind, has come straight from Thailand well preserved to retain its natural taste. Homegrown dried mangoes, bananas and countless Thai fruits are also showcased to express the taste and feel of the bustling city.
A trip to the Pavilion must include massage shops for a demonstration in the latest techniques and aromas used for body and face massage. A stop at one of the two massage centers located within the pavilion are just as essential to complement the relaxation and healing.
Thailand is also famous for the production of cubic diamonds and the best kinds of zircon. Many shops are showcasing the latest fashion trends but the most popular is the black spinel which is a rare gem only found in Thailand.
Before leaving, the food court at the end of the Thai Pavilion is a must-try; be it Tom Yum or Thai Crispy Prawns, there is a vast selection of delicacies that portray the real taste of Thailand. And the crowds who are familiar with the rituals of the visit usually take their boxes and head to the stage located at the entrance to watch the Thai folk show for a lasting impression.
