On Wednesday, April 16th Audemars Piguet & Ahmed Seddiqi and Sons hosted
an exclusive gala dinner to unveil the daring new Royal Oak Offshore 42mm
collection at Ossiano, Atlantis Dubai. To the captivating music of multi-award
winning Azania and her band, guests were treated to stunning physical performances
that captured the striking qualities of the 2014 Royal Oak Offshore 42mm
collection, the dynamic new editions of the iconic luxury Audemars Piguet
watch.True to the Offshore spirit, incredible feats of power and balance were
performed by a starstudded range of international performers. Pascal Rousseau,
performing for the first time in Dubai, perched himself in impossible
positions, blind, atop towers of chairs, capturing the perfect balance of the
watches. Moments later, an underwater presentation of the watches by
synchronized swimming champions Les Farfadais, alongside French free-diving
champion Guillaume Bussière, and beautiful mermaids paid tribute to the
collection’s earth and water capabilities.
Ground-breaking as ever, the edgy 2014 collection available in stainless steel or 18-carat pink gold is distinguished by a more technical, sculpted aesthetic, as is notably visible in the resized design of the ceramic pushpieces, their guards and the ceramic crown. While every dial is decorated with the Royal Oak Offshore distinctive waffle-like “Mega-Tapisserie” pattern, new facetted hands with polished fillets around the markers, counters and date window together with luminescent coating make it more radiant thus ensuring enhanced readability. The engraved 22-carat gold oscillating mass is now visible through the sapphire caseback, a window onto 140 years of horological mastery. For lifelong fans and newcomers alike, these novelties highlight Audemars Piguet’s ongoing commitment to technical progress and to the family-owned company spirit of independence, the perfect embodiment of the Manufacture motto “to break the rules, you must first master them.”
